CAD-PDM migration for FRITSCH Bakery Technologies

SSC has been supporting customer projects in the migration of CAD data for years, mainly in the automotive industry. We support corporations as well as their development service providers and take over smaller, on-demand conversions up to migration projects lasting several years. SSC is currently carrying out a migration project for FRITSCH Bakery Technologies, a new customer in the field of mechanical engineering.

“We are very pleased about the cooperation with our new customer, FRITSCH Bakery Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, a leading manufacturer of bakery machines, because we are not only familiar with automotive data,” emphasizes Ralf Luithardt, who is responsible for sales in the SSC management.

SSC takes care of the conceptual design up to the operative implementation, from the application and support of the converters up to the control of the involved parties during the entire migration process.

The migration project

Since August 2019 FRITSCH has been part of the MULTIVAC group of companies which, with this acquisition, completes its solution portfolio as a supplier of packaging solutions for all types of food, life science and healthcare products as well as industrial goods with production lines for the bakery industry.

FRITSCH and MULTIVAC use different CAD and PDM development systems. The task of the migration project is to transfer CAD data including PDM structure information and metadata from FRITSCH’s source systems to MULTIVAC’s target systems.

Following preliminary analyses and feasibility studies by the SSC experts, the preparation of the extensive data stock for the target systems will take place at MULTIVAC.

“SSC takes over the project management, the operation of the necessary systems, the CAD conversion and structural post-processing of the data. A converter from our partner Elysium is used for the conversion of the CAD files and for the post-processing of the PDM structural data we use software from our partner PDTec“, explains Ghislain Delpeuch, head of the SSC CAD data management team.

Our SWAN data exchange solution is used to ensure secure and traceable data exchange throughout the entire project.

Great attention is always paid to the automation of the entire process flow. Wherever manual work can be avoided, SSC strives to simplify and accelerate the process flow through tool-supported automation.

Currently the necessary hardware and network infrastructure is being set up. The actual migration phase will start at the end of the year. The top priority here is to get FRITSCH employees up and running as quickly as possible in the new system. During the migration, a conversion will take place “on demand” in order to enable development in ongoing customer projects parallel to the build-up of know-how for the employees.

“For us, the cooperation with SSC is an extremely important part of our CAD-PDM migration project. Without SSC’s professional support and valuable insight, we would certainly not be so far along in the migration process today. Great team!” says Zoran Stavreski, Senior Director Supply Chain Management at FRITSCH Bakery Technologies.

In total, more than 270,000 parts and assemblies are to be migrated from the CAD-PDM source system to the CAD-PDM target system.
