SSC Foundation hands over donation to Nikolauspflege

In November, SSC-Services GmbH hosted a vernissage featuring the artwork of photographer Stephan Zirwes at its own offices. The SSC Foundation made its first official appearance at this event and collected donations for a Nikolauspflege project. An organisation with the aim of enabling blind and visually impaired people to participate in society to the best of their ability.

A total of €1,250 was collected, which the SSC Foundation doubled to €2,500. The donation was accepted by Ms Schaffrath (press department), Mr Luft (trainer), Mr Neher (division manager) and several Nikolauspflege trainees.

“We have known Nikolauspflege for several years now and are delighted to be able to make a meaningful contribution thanks to the numerous donations,” Matthias Stroezel (founder of SSC-Services GmbH and SSC Stiftung gGmbH)

Nikolauspflege will use the €2,500 for the purchase of a Braille display. The Braille display is an expensive computer output device that translates characters into Braille. The Braille display enables blind and visually impaired people to use computers and laptops.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
from the entire SSC team

This year we are again supporting the Winterhalden Kindergarten in Sindelfingen with our Christmas donation.

First project for the SSC Foundation

For SSC founder and Managing Director Matthias Stroezel, the establishment of the SSC Foundation this year fulfils a long-held dream.

“The SSC Foundation enables us to support exciting projects that are close to my heart and that of the entire company.”

Matthias Stroezel

These include the promotion of science and research, art and culture as well as education. It is also intended to help people in need for the greater good of society.

The SSC Foundation will begin its work and make its first appearance at the SSC vernissage “H2O in various elementary states”, which will take place on 9 November at the SSC premises. Photographs by the internationally renowned artist Stephan Zirwes will be exhibited, curated by MSC BW Managing Director Matthias Hauser.

On this evening, we will collect donations for a project of the Nikolauspflege organisation, to which we as a company have a close connection. The SSC Foundation will then double the amount collected.

The foundation was established this year. Further projects are planned for the coming year. A dedicated website is currently under construction.

“I am very much looking forward to further expanding the foundation in the coming year and tackling projects together,”

adds Matthias Stroezel.

The foundation is based in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. Donations can be transferred to the following account with the subject Nikolauspflege:

Active Participation in the development of the new Odette OFTP2 standard

We are proud to announce that our software developer Robin has been involved in the further development of the new Odette OFTP2 standard. Odette is a non-profit organization of several national automotive associations, dealing among other things with standardization for the entire automotive supply chain. OFTP2 is the standard used in professional data exchange, mainly in the automotive environment, for the transfer of engineering data.

What has changed?

The new standard has further increased the security of data exchange. In addition to TLS encryption, there is also a file signing function that can be used to confirm the file transfer or to provide additional security by using end-to-end encryption. Of the six possible technologies provided so far, only two could be assumed to be secure. In order to have more choice here, our developer Robin has introduced a new SHA hash method, which is now part of the OFTP2 standard.

Background

SSC is a certified member of the OFTP2 community. Our SWAN-integrated OFTP2 system SWOX has passed the tests prescribed by the Odette organization for certification and received the OFTP2 certifcate

Balance sheet operating year 2022

The 2022 financial year was somewhat mixed for SSC and was not as successful as previous years. Turnover fell by 12.5% compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the management sees the company in a rock-solid position for the future.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to repeat the very good result from 2021. There are many reasons for this, such as investments in specialist projects for the future or delays in filling vacancies,” says SSC Managing Director Tobias Rohde.

In its 25th anniversary year, SSC also wants to send a positive signal to its own staff:

“With a general salary adjustment for all permanent employees, we would like to thank our employees for their many years of commitment in all areas,” says SSC Managing Director Matthias Stroezel.

Due to the current order situation, the company is looking to the future with subdued optimism.

25 years SSC – Our anniversary year has begun

To kick off our anniversary year, we started with a joint celebration at Stuttgart’s BIX Jazzclub.

“In the founding year 1998, I would never have thought that SSC would develop in this way”, said Managing Director Matthias Stroezel at the anniversary celebration in Stuttgart’s BIX Jazzclub. Back then, the two founders Karl Strecker and Matthias Stroezel were all about data exchange. Today, we have a broad portfolio of services and products related to digital transformation. With just under 200 employees, however, we have been able to maintain our family-like working atmosphere. “For us, the focus is always on people and employees. That is why we are particularly proud to have been continuously awarded the “berufundfamilie” audit for 13 years”, says Matthias Stroezel, Managing Director at SSC.

Shaping collaboration and connecting working worlds

We connect working worlds” is one of SSC’s mottoes. In the recent past the topic of “shaping collaboration” has also gained an increasingly important role within SSC. With the internal project called “Future of Work”, we were able to develop a new collaboration culture together with our staff. The goal is to optimize the advantages of the office and mobile working. Despite the latest technology, “the human factor plays a central role, especially in hybrid collaboration“, says Zorica Schmidt from the HR team. In the 25th anniversary year, there should still be enough room for human encounters and joint celebrations: The anniversary celebration was the prelude to further joint activities during the year.

New SWANenterprise customer on board: FACC AG

We are very pleased that FACC AG, a world-leading aerospace company in the design, development and manufacture of aviation technologies, has opted for our data exchange platform. SWAN will replace the data exchange tool previously used at FACC AG in mid 2023.

“We are very proud that our product could convince and that FACC AG will use a SWANenterprise installation for secure, reliable and traceable data exchange”, reports Volker Klingenstein of SSC Sales Account.

The company from Ried im Innkreis will use SWAN both for internal company data exchange and for communication with external development service providers, via the SWANportal solution. The SWANenterprise software is precisely adapted to the customer’s specific requirements by our software developers from Böblingen and then installed and commissioned by SSC specialists in the FACC’s own infrastructure.

With SWANmanaged services, SSC specialists take care of application and user support, server and application operation, the backup and security mechanisms included in the package, and updates for SWAN: This means that the application is always up to date.

SWANhosted Customer: MoldTecs GmbH

We are looking forward to working with our new SWAN customer, MoldTecs GmbH. The specialist for high-performance plastic parts has opted for our all-round carefree solution SWANhosted.

With SWANmanaged services, the SSC specialists take care of application and user support, server and application operation, the backup and security mechanisms included in the package, and updates for SWAN: this means that the application is always up to date. Our developers in Böblingen are continuously working on improvements and currently deliver a new version every 14 days. This allows MoldTecs GmbH to concentrate on its core business, the development and production of state-of-the-art intake systems, pipes and technical plastic parts.

Volker Klingenstein the responsible SSC Sales Account explains: “Due to a change of name (or carve-out) our product team had to quickly ensure that the data exchange is still guaranteed. Therefore, I am even more pleased that we were able to overcome this challenge together and that MoldTecs GmbH decided in favor of SWAN.”

The SWAN server is located in a highly secure data center in Oberreichenbach in the Black Forest, the SSC infrastructure is located in the former nuclear shelter of the Baden-Württemberg state government – absolutely secure and certified to ISO 27001 in accordance with BSI basic protection for high and very high protection requirements.

The European project EXCELLERAT enters its second phase

The European Centre of Excellence for Engineering Applications (EXCELLERAT) is a European conglomerate of business partners and high-performance computing centres. Its purpose is to improve Europe’s competitiveness in the High-Performance Computing (HPC) environment.

The second phase of the project started with a 2-day kick-off workshop on 18 and 19 January at HLRS, the High-Performance Computing Centre Stuttgart. Together with participants from Spain, Italy, Sweden, Slovenia, France and Germany, the ongoing and future cooperation was reinforced. The EXCELLERAT project has a duration of four years and is funded by the EU as well as the German government.

Both days were dedicated to the exchange of views and ideas. Seven work packages were presented, their contents discussed, and common goals agreed on. There was also room for personal exchange and getting to know each other.

The main goal of project phase II is to pick up on the successes of EXCELLERAT I and to further promote Europe in the field of EXASCALE computing.

SSC will continue to represent small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), providing an interface to the HPC centres and thus facilitating the use of HPC for industry. Thanks to the utilisation of HPC, highly complex simulations and calculations can be carried out – the basis for development of products and solutions and thus essential for any innovation process.

As one of the 15 European partners, we will continue leading the topic Data Management within the EXCELERAT project, contributing our outstanding expertise in this field.
